Simple: What do you think is the most unrecognizable, understated, sleeper ever? It might not be the best, just the ones that look, sound, and smell, most like regular cars.
Something more like that !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! or !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! than body kit'd GMC Syclones or bulldog-stanced Renault Clio V6s, cars that are perfectly disguised in the outside, other than a exhaust pipe.

I'd have to say the 9 second diesel truck looks a lot slower than it is.

ZZP tuned 3800 boats like the bonneville SSEI and park avenue ultra. This bonneville runs low 12s/ high 11s. Seats 5 in mid level comfort. Cruises the highways of ohio to get the owner to work every day. Probably eats puppies and children while sitting in the parking lot.....

Looks like a crappy 72 nova, has a twin rotrex blowers on an LS V8

Same one I was thinking of. Didn't even realize big muscle covered it.

WHAT???
My brain does not believe what my eyes just saw. Holy shit.

The best kind of sleeper, the one that can be used for other things.

OMG! Thing looks like it would barely be able to spin a wheel in the rain. Gets my vote for sleepiest sleeper that ever slept.

that was about my reaction the first time i saw that too.
I was like....ok, whats god number again? I need to report a bug in the physics engine

Volvo S80 with the Yamaha V8 and straight pipes.

This thing. Over 600 HP and still has stock hubcaps.
![]() 09/28/2014 at 17:31 |

Yeah! I was just looking for cars that could qualify as something close to what I had in mind, and 700hp Saab 99 are words that didn't so much come as blew my mind up.

Hey, that's a nice 2002. It could use some paint, but those wheels are cool.
*pops hood*
Oh...
Turbo'd F20c swap pushing about 403 whp. Now, that's not the biggest number out there but consider that this car came with less than 100hp from the factory, and that came with a factory weight of around 2,000 svelte pounds. After the heart transplant, thats a power to weight ratio of roughly 0.2hp/lb. To put that into perspective a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport has a power to weight ration of 0.288hp/lb. That's not too shabby for a cheap German two-door sedan from the 70's.

If I had to go with a sleeper it would be the one I would piece together for my 2007 grand marquis if I ever get the chance. Traction lock retaining the 2.73 gears for ultimate cruising manners, headers, exhaust with original style downturns, suspension, original wheels, sticky tire, slotted rotors and a vortech v3 supercharger kit. Sure, it amounts to only 360whp/360wtq. But who would guess nearly twice the horsepower out of a grandpa car? And the reason for keeping 2.73 gears? That kickdown to 2nd gear, and reaching 90+ mph before shifting to 3rd. YES! I can already imagine the faces...

It has everything going for it including steelies. Unfortunately the bubble scoop gives the game away for the Galaxie lightweight.

It definitely looks the part, and, yeah, I doubt there are many others that can that kind of wheelie!
![]() 09/28/2014 at 17:46 |

Damn you could fit a V16 in there with ease...

That's awesome! I had read something about a Prius, but it was a scam, nice to know there's somebody willing to go for that idea!
![]() 09/28/2014 at 17:53 |

That is really nuts! I bet, however, there are two kinds of BMW purists: The ones that appreciate the sheer craziness of the car, and the ones that don't like it just because there isn't a BMW powerplant under the hood. Anyway, it looks really clean and it must be a blast to drive.
![]() 09/28/2014 at 17:55 |

That is just more than I could have imagined... I love it!
![]() 09/28/2014 at 18:07 |
|
Well, if you're willing to go nuts with a DS... may as well stick a Rolls-Royce Merlin in the back of this one
![]() 09/28/2014 at 18:08 |
|
Yeah, this car is pretty polarizing. Personally, I love it. I really want to do a non-turbo F20c swap into my 2002 in the future. The only issue is that those engines cost as much as my car did... I might just stick with dual Webber 40's for now.
![]() 09/28/2014 at 18:10 |

This Monte just looks like a clean car with a little too much air in the shocks.

Try the Jag XJ220 drivetrain mule disguised as a Ford Transit panel van. Twin Turbo V6, work truck exterior, just ignore the wheels.
![]() 09/28/2014 at 18:26 |
|
Yeah, those are revvy engines, probably keep the car much more balanced with a bit less power, and even funnier to drive. Maybe K20s are good enough, or are they a pain in the ass to fit them to a rwd setting?
![]() 09/28/2014 at 18:28 |
|
Yeah! that was a good one, maybe Ford's 60s Supervan could qualify too, if not for those huge wheelarches it had.
![]() 09/28/2014 at 18:29 |
|
I'm not sure, actually. I've seen a lot of classic Minis with K20 swaps, but nothing RWD. I think the 200 or so horses that the F20c comes with from the factory would be more than okay. I would have no need to go much higher than that, though I think I would be more than happy with a 50hp bump from what I have now.

Lsx Jeep FTW

Paradoxically, the only thing giving away it's a sleeper, is the license plate that reads "Sleepr". Although it looks quite stock, that's for sure
![]() 09/28/2014 at 18:43 |

Needs more V16 Quad Turbo diesel.
![]() 09/28/2014 at 18:45 |
|
Well, it may be done, but it's probably a real and costly pain. Probably best thing to do is just upgrade a bit your engine, even if you don't get anywhere close to a +50hp bump...
![]() 09/28/2014 at 18:49 |
|
Yeah, I'm planning do upgrade to dual Webber DCOE 40 sidedrafts, headers, and maybe an Ansa muffler for the near future (or straight pipe??? lol). That won't get me 50hp but I'm more focussing on suspension goodies right now.

I think someone on CL was saying it was theirs and using the builder's pictures, that's the real one though
![]() 09/28/2014 at 20:07 |

That's the car you should have been able to buy from the dealer. What a waste of a RWD platform. Now is only there was a de Sade option.

Well, I had a 69 F1oo that looked a bit worse than the picture below, but the exhaust note would give it away when running. It had a built 429 with a fully built C6 auto, posi rear end with 4.10 gears and big ol' mud tires out back that offered great grip, but howled like a coon dog when they spun. It was a lot of fun until the cross pin in the rear end broke and sent it sliding into a telephone pole.

That gen looks just perfect to build one of those ICON delericts, even though it is not too old, just old enough. That patina, rust taken care of, a much improved drivetrain and a refurbished interior would make an interesting ride, it's a shame that telephone pole had to be there!

Only in Seattle: tamest looking Honda Accord of all time—very fast. Like a fleece-wearing biker. A pistol in a brightly colored Lifeproof case. Epic.

Thanks. I had just finished upgrading the front brakes to disc too, but the street I was on had just had some construction work done and it was raining and muddy so the brake upgrade didn't help a bit. It hit dead center and rolled the front frame horns inward, destroying my new electric radiator cooling fans and electric water pump. I pulled the engine and sold it to a guy building a pulling truck and sold the remainder of the truck to a cousin for parts. I was sad to see it go and so far I have been unable to find another of my liking to replace it.

How do the front wheels not just spin off w 600hp?
